I made a couple of small changes but I think this is a much more effective message:

Poster Design Part 2
After our critique of the first poster designs, the class was instructed to choose a poster and take an opposing viewpoint for our second poster designs. I chose a poster promoting robots as "our friends."
In case you're not familiar with the term "Technological Singularity," according to Wikipedia: Technological singularity is "a hypothetical moment in time when artificial intelligence will have progressed to the point of a greater-than-human intelligence."
And here's an interesting quote from another article I came across on the Internet: When Will Singularity Happen – And Will it Turn Earth into Heaven or Hell? “Defined as the point where computers become more intelligent than humans and where human intelligence can be digitally stored, Singularity hasn't happened yet. First theorised by mathematician John von Neumann in the 1950s, the 'Singularitarian Immortalist' (and Director of Engineering at Google) Ray Kurzweil thinks that by 2045, machine intelligence will be infinitely more powerful than all human intelligence combined, and that technological development will be taken over by the machines.”
Sounds a little scary, huh? Could The Matrix, in fact, be a real possibility? So, I decided my poster should be a forewarning of this imminent danger. I welcome your comments and critique (btw, the link at the bottom of the poster is a fictional website):

Wednesday & A New Poem
The sun tormented him
when he finally awoke
He coughed and he wheezed
until he’d just choke
Grimacing at this
poorly played joke
He pulled up the thin
sheet around him to cloak
Having a faint memory
of events from before
Rolling out of his
bed and onto the floor
He managed to get up
to open the door
Remembering something
he could not ignore
How life somehow seemed
to keep going by
That every truth
spoken was simply a lie
Recalling all this he
thought he should cry
But could only react
with a deep gasping sigh
It’s my own fault, he
thought to himself
The one to be blamed
was always myself
Habitually placing my
heart on a shelf
Not paying attention
to the needs of the self
He returned to his
bed to seek some more sleep
Not wanting to ponder
these issues too deep
Knowing what’s sown
is only what’s reaped
There’s so very
little that’s worthy to keep
He fell on the
mattress and clutched to his pillow
He felt that his
being was beginning to billow
Imagined the corpse
of a dead armadillo
And dreamt of a
weeping sage colored willow
He slept to forget
the rest of the noon
But awoke to that
tormenting sun far too soon
Hoping to see just
the light of the moon
His reality reverted
to a children’s cartoon
His insanity caused
him to seek some relief
Dishonesty began to
be his only belief
He swore that someday
he’d turn a new leaf
In the end he was
robbed by a kind quiet thief

EAT BEEF Poster Revised
I got a very constructive critique from a colleague and made some edits to my design. I think this one is so much better. This is why we critique each other; to bring out the best.

DWARF
So, DWARF will once again grace Mesa's Main St. for yet another 2nd Friday Out! With Bailey on bass and back up vocals, Dom on drums and Sage on guitar and lead vocals, this is THE up & coming alternative punk group to keep your eye on. These kids are getting far too big for their local britches and will soon be making the mainstream jump! Join me this Friday, March 13th so you can tell your kids that you saw DWARF while they were still giving free performances at local art events . . .

This New Project is going to make me Very Unpopular!
Okay,
this is gonna get me into a lot of hot water LOL. Our next project in
my Illustrator class is to design posters. They can be anything; movie,
music, promotional, propaganda, whatever. I decided to try a dark humor
propaganda approach. These causes are very unpopular, so I will duck as
you fling feces at me LOL. Remember, these are only idea mock-ups:

Just for no particular reason
Just for no particular reason
Not for the rain nor for the season
Not for the way I’m feeling right now
Not because I miss you somehow
Not for the rain nor for the season
Not for the way I’m feeling right now
Not because I miss you somehow
Not for the time we spent together
Not even for the days that last forever
But for the moments that slipped away
The conversations that went astray
Those very short months and weeks
Spent and wasted my soul seeks
Just one more day to talk and share
To let you know how much I care
Not because it makes me nervous
Or not even for a kind of regret
Nor for any sort of disservice
That I prefer now to forget
Not because of any agony or guilt
For a future that I’ve now built
When I awake, I only want to sleep
Your memory I can’t help but keep
But torture always haunts my dreams
I’ve run out of clever schemes
But not for any particular reason
It might just be the rain or the season
Not even for the days that last forever
But for the moments that slipped away
The conversations that went astray
Those very short months and weeks
Spent and wasted my soul seeks
Just one more day to talk and share
To let you know how much I care
Not because it makes me nervous
Or not even for a kind of regret
Nor for any sort of disservice
That I prefer now to forget
Not because of any agony or guilt
For a future that I’ve now built
When I awake, I only want to sleep
